Campaign:
Pledge total as at 13 October : R1
354 080.00
The second Rhodes Centenary telemail campaign began on Wednesday
the 17th September. During this period we aimed to reach over
13 000 alumni, parents and fee payers.
As with the previous campaign, the calls, which were made by
trained student callers, were preceded by two appeal letters
which explain the reason for the campaign and the proposed use
of funds raised.
As part of their training, students were asked to call alumni
who had
pledged in the previous campaign, to thank them for their commitment.
This is part of the University's pro-active stewardship activities
which ensure that donor contributions are acknowledged in an appropriate and sustainable manner.
Based on the comments we have received from these calls, our
alumni have been really thrilled to receive this thank-you.
Individual donations and pledges of R5 000 or more give telemail
donors the opportunity to have their names permanently engraved
in the Centenary walkway which is being laid just outside the
main entrance to the University.
This will be a lasting acknowledgment to all those that have
contributed to a great institution.
